The “Sea Pallini” cable stayed bridge, crossing the main highway reaching the new airport of Athens...
The “Sea Pallini” cable stayed bridge, crossing the main highway reaching the new airport of Athens, with the sharpened top of the inclined pylons and the mixture of red stays and a blue deck has certainly an unusual shape design.
The steel deck, preliminary placed on temporary beaings, and afterwards concreted with a top slab, is suspended with 6 stays, 4 made of 19 strands and 2 of 42 strands while pylons are made of post-tensioned concrete.
External hdpe sheathing for stays has been suitably chosen in a bright red colour, provided with special double helicoidal rib profile, suitable to avoid possible phenomena of instability due to wind-rain combined effect.
Stays have been installed as per standard procedure and have undergone a final operation of adjustment acting with dedicated Tensacciai jacks on adjustable anchorages placed on top of the pylons.
