This need has become serious since many important structures, after years of too low level of regular maintenance or inadequate design or a considerable lifetime, have shown clear need of rehabilitation.
The use of post-tensioning, especially the external one, has been suitably adapted to introduce into the structures supplementary forces, necessary to recreate the acceptable conditions of displacements and stresses.
